ASCENT / IN PROGRESS — Ladder Ring
A structure that is not yet complete.
This ring reinterprets the traditional toi et moi format through an architectural lens. The shank is formed as a ladder—an open framework that suggests upward movement, construction, and continuation rather than resolution.
A 9 carat smoky quartz is set on the diagonal, shifting the expected balance of the form. Opposite it, a single moissanite acts as a fixed point—smaller, but sharper—creating tension between scale, weight, and direction.
The open structure reduces mass while emphasizing line and movement. Negative space becomes part of the design, allowing the form to feel active rather than static.
This is not a symbol of completion.
It is a marker of what is still being built.
